Baycurrent Classic Leaders Emerge in Yokohama
The Baycurrent Classic, formerly known as the Zozo Championship, saw Americans Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell establish a shared lead after the second round concluded on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Yokohama Country Club. Bridgeman followed his opening eight-under 63 with a 68, while Mitchell posted a six-under 65 to join him at the top.
This duo holds a two-shot advantage over a group of four players, which includes Ben Kohles, who recorded the day's lowest score with a nine-under 62. Other contenders within two shots of the lead are Americans Mac Meissner (68), Max Homa (68), and Zack Bouchou (64).
The tournament, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the Japan Golf Tour, represents the PGA Tour's sole stop in Asia and features its strongest field of the FedEx Cup Fall series.
Min Woo Lee Maintains Strong Position
Australia’s Min Woo Lee is positioned three shots off the lead, sitting in joint seventh place at eight under par. The 28-year-old showcased remarkable consistency, carding a second consecutive four-under 67 on Friday.
Each of Lee's rounds has featured six birdies offset by two bogeys, demonstrating a steady performance that keeps him firmly in contention as the tournament progresses into the weekend. His disciplined play has allowed him to close the gap on the leading pair, setting the stage for a compelling final two rounds.
Adam Scott Gains Ground
Fellow Australian Adam Scott also made a significant move up the leaderboard during the second round. After an opening two-under 69, the 46-year-old improved his score with a four-under 67 on Friday. Scott’s round began with an early bogey on the second hole but quickly recovered with birdies on the fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth holes to finish the front nine strongly.
He added further birdies on the 13th and 17th, though a bogey on the par-4 last slightly impacted his finish. With rounds of 69 and 67, Scott stands at six under for the tournament, sharing 13th place and five shots behind the co-leaders.
Presidents Cup Stars Set for Weekend Showdown
The Baycurrent Classic field includes 13 of the 24 players who competed in the Presidents Cup two weeks ago. Min Woo Lee and Adam Scott were integral members of the International Team, while co-leader Jacob Bridgeman was a standout performer for the victorious Team USA.
Other notable players include Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who posted a one-over 72 on Friday and is currently eight shots behind the leaders, alongside American Xander Schauffele, who carded a 69.
The diverse and competitive field ensures that the weekend's play will determine if an Australian can claim the title at this key Asian PGA Tour event, offering a significant opportunity for the contenders.
