Cao Bang's Bai Tinh Golf Course Recognised as Vietnam's First Community Model
The 18-hole course in Cao Bang Province received official acclaim on 3 October 2026 for its unique approach, blending natural landscapes with direct local involvement.

Official Recognition for Bai Tinh
Bai Tinh Golf Course, situated in Vietnam's Cao Bang Province, has formally received the designation of "Vietnam's First Community Golf Course". This recognition highlights a distinct operational model that integrates golf with local life and natural surroundings.
The Thanh Long Commune People's Committee, in collaboration with the Cao Bang Golf Association, announced the title on 3 October 2026, during celebrations for the 76th anniversary of Cao Bang Liberation Day.
Further validating its unique approach, Bai Tinh also secured an award in the "Vietnam's First Community Golf Course" category at the Vietnam Golf & Leisure Awards 2026, distinguishing itself from conventional commercial and resort golf facilities.
A Course Shaped by Nature
Spanning approximately 100 hectares, the 18-hole Bai Tinh Golf Course is designed to work with its existing natural terrain rather than against it. Unlike many modern golf developments that rely on extensive landscaping and artificial features, Bai Tinh offers a more organic playing experience.
Golfers navigate a course characterised by natural grasslands, mountainous sections, and various water features, where even grazing buffalo contribute to the local character.
This approach means the course forgoes the modern amenities and comprehensive signage typical of professionally planned golf resorts, requiring players to adapt to their surroundings and observe the landscape during their round.
Local Livelihoods and Community Integration
A core element of Bai Tinh's community model involves direct participation from local residents. Villagers work as caddies, offer assistance to golfers, and provide services to visitors, creating essential livelihood opportunities within the area.
This integration ensures that the golf experience at Bai Tinh is closely connected to local life, moving beyond a sole focus on the game itself.
The model's value stems from its emphasis on natural landscapes, affordable access for players, and significant local community involvement, setting a precedent for golf development that prioritises social and economic benefits for the surrounding population.
Future Direction and Market Implications
Looking ahead, Bai Tinh aims to enhance essential golfer facilities and services while carefully preserving its distinct identity. The primary challenge will involve balancing the demands of tourism growth with the imperative of landscape preservation, avoiding over-commercialisation or significant terrain alterations that could compromise its unique qualities.
From a market standpoint, this model presents an interesting direction for Vietnamese golf, particularly for regions with attractive natural settings and communities open to experiential tourism, but without the resources for large-scale golf and resort complexes.
Its long-term operational viability, including service quality, course maintenance, and environmental management as visitor numbers increase, will be crucial to its success. If managed effectively, Bai Tinh could become a notable example of golf development driven by local communities and indigenous resources, rather than solely by major infrastructure investment.
For travelling golfers, this model suggests a different kind of experience in Vietnam, one focused on immersion in local culture and natural beauty, potentially at a more accessible price point than traditional resorts.
It offers an alternative for those seeking an authentic, less polished round, but players should anticipate a more rustic setting compared to established commercial courses. The success of this approach could encourage similar developments across Vietnam, diversifying the country's golf tourism offerings.
