Akbar Secures 2027 Asian Tour Card

Indonesian professional Kevin Caesario Akbar has successfully secured his playing privileges for the 2027 Asian Tour season. The 28-year-old concluded the 2026 Asian Development Tour (ADT) calendar ranked ninth in the Order of Merit, a position that grants direct entry to the elite regional circuit.

The 2026 ADT season officially wrapped up following the Egypt Golf Series 14, which concluded on 1 October. The top ten players on the final Order of Merit standings from the Asian Development Tour are awarded cards for the subsequent Asian Tour season, marking a significant step in their professional careers.

Consistent Play Secures Top-10 Finish

Akbar's achievement is particularly notable as he participated in only seven of the 14 events on the 2026 ADT schedule. His strong finish was largely propelled by key performances late in the season, including a victory at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament 2026.

This win was complemented by a tied-sixth place finish at The Indonesia Pro-Am presented by Combiphar & Nomura just one week prior. These two events contributed substantial points, solidifying his position within the top ten of the ADT Order of Merit.

Akbar stated that earning an Asian Tour card was a primary goal for the year, a goal he managed to achieve despite taking time away from tournaments to focus on family.

Ambitions for the Asian Tour Circuit

Looking ahead to the 2027 season, which begins in approximately three months, Kevin Akbar has already outlined his ambitions for the Asian Tour. His primary objective is to maintain his status on the tour, aspiring to play a full schedule of events.

He acknowledges the increased level of competition and the more challenging course setups he will encounter on the main tour, particularly with co-sanctioned events involving the European Tour. Akbar aims to perform well in the initial full Asian Tour events to improve his standing on the Order of Merit, which could lead to a higher re-rank status. He emphasises a continuous process of analysis and improvement, focusing on what he can control in his game.

New Entrants Face Elevated Competition

Malaysian Khavish Varadan claimed the top spot on the 2026 ADT Order of Merit, earning nearly US$65,000 from just eight events. Korea's Minhyeok Yang finished second, accumulating almost US$60,000 across 14 tournaments.

Alongside Varadan, Yang, and Akbar, eight other golfers also secured their 2027 Asian Tour cards: Sean Ramos (Philippines), Michelle Ortolani (Italy), Ruchanapong Youprayong (Thailand), Pukhraj Gill (India), Nicklaus Chiam (Singapore), Andi Xu (China), and Nathan Han (Canada).

These ten graduates from the ADT will now face a significantly tougher environment on the Asian Tour, characterised by stronger fields and more demanding course conditions, presenting a considerable challenge for them to establish themselves on Asia's premier golf circuit.
