The PGA Institute, in collaboration with Golf Australia, has opened applications for its Careers in Golf Scholarship program. This initiative offers two distinct opportunities for individuals pursuing professional roles within the golf industry. Launched in 2025, the program provides a bursary to assist with tuition fees. Successful applicants will undertake the Diploma of Golf Business and Management through the PGA Institute. This qualification equips individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge for a career in the sport. The program targets both new entrants and existing professionals seeking to enhance their capabilities.

Scholarship Structure and Eligibility

Two types of scholarships are available under the 2026 Careers in Golf Scholarship program. One option is an on-campus scholarship, located at the PGA Learning Hub within Sandhurst Golf Club. This pathway serves recent Year 12 graduates residing in metropolitan Melbourne who are starting their golf industry careers.

The second option is an off-campus scholarship, offering online study. This route supports individuals living or working in regional areas. It also caters to those already employed at golf clubs or venues who wish to upskill and broaden their expertise. All applicants must be aged 18 or over. They must also be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Further criteria require applicants not to be current recipients of other PGA of Australia scholarships or funding. Additionally, they must live or work in a qualifying region to be considered.

Tayla Potter, undertaking the Diploma of Golf Business and Management online, works at Gladstone Golf Club in Far North Queensland. Potter stated her desire for golf to be part of her future. She found the PGA Institute's online offerings provided a clear path.

Georgia Sottile, employed at Lonsdale Links on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula, uses the Diploma as a stepping stone. Her objective involves becoming a PGA Professional, with a specific interest in women’s coaching. Sottile noted that the modules align directly with her daily work. This includes teaching, pro shop operations, and club management.

PGA Institute Senior Manager Suzanne Burns stated the scholarships allow people from varied backgrounds to enter or progress in the golf industry. Burns added that the industry requires skilled personnel at every level. The scholarships ensure access to education and opportunities, regardless of location or career stage.
