Royal Adelaide Confirmed for 2027 National Championship

The 2027 Women's Australian Open is scheduled for March 11–14, with the prestigious Royal Adelaide Golf Club in South Australia chosen as the host venue. This national championship will be jointly sanctioned by the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the Ladies European Tour (LET), aiming to attract a strong field of international players.

The event's return to Royal Adelaide marks its sixth staging in South Australia, reinforcing the state's reputation as a significant golfing destination. Golf Australia and PGA of Australia's General Manager of Major Events and Operations, Antonia Beggs, expressed excitement about bringing the tournament back to Adelaide.

Multi-Year Partnership Secures Future for Australian Opens

This 2027 tournament forms the second event delivered under a substantial multi-year partnership between Golf Australia, the South Australian Government, and the South Australian Tourism Commission. This agreement commits the state to hosting at least six more men’s and women’s Australian Opens, establishing a long-term calendar for elite golf in the region.

The previous 2026 Women's Australian Open, held at Kooyonga Golf Club, saw Australian major champion Hannah Green claim the title, becoming the first Australian winner since Karrie Webb in 2014. Green's victory was part of three consecutive wins, elevating her to a career-best world ranking of fifth.

Officials Emphasise Event's Significance

Antonia Beggs, General Manager of Major Events and Operations for Golf Australia and PGA of Australia, highlighted the partnership with the South Australian Government as a clear commitment to women's golf, allowing for continued growth of the national Open.

WPGA Tour of Australasia CEO Karen Lunn lauded Royal Adelaide as a "magnificent golf course" and anticipated another successful event showcasing women's golf. South Australian Minister for Tourism, Emily Bourke MLC, underscored the event's role in promoting the state globally and inspiring local participation.

Royal Adelaide Golf Club Captain Sarah Chia added the club's pride in hosting and its commitment to delivering a world-class championship experience.

Implications for International Golfers and Fans

For international players, especially those from Asia, the co-sanctioning by the Ladies European Tour ensures opportunities for competitive play and ranking points on a highly regarded course. Golf enthusiasts planning travel to Australia can now mark March 11–14, 2027, for the Women's Australian Open at Royal Adelaide, with tickets already available via Ticketek.

The sustained commitment from the South Australian Government to host multiple national Opens suggests a stable calendar for professional golf in the region, potentially attracting more Asian players and golf travellers to the state's offerings over the coming years.
