Singapore Open Secures New Title Sponsor and Tour Partnership

The Singapore Open will see Deutsche Bank become its new title sponsor, commencing next year. This multi-year agreement, which the DP World Tour announced yesterday, will run until 2029. Alongside this, the DP World Tour is rejoining as a co-sanctioning partner for the tournament.

The event, a prominent fixture on the Asian Tour schedule, is set to take place at The Serapong course within Sentosa Golf Club from 15–18 April.

This marks the first time Deutsche Bank has directly sponsored Singapore's national open, though the bank has a history of collaborating with the DP World Tour, having been the Title Partner for the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship of Europe between 1995 and 2007.

Tournament History and Tour Integration

The Singapore Open, first played in 1961, has a rich history of champions including Australian Adam Scott, who holds a record three victories, alongside Spain’s Sergio Garcia and Englishman Ian Poulter. Asian Tour legends such as Indian Jeev Milkha Singh and Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond have also triumphed.

The tournament previously held a co-sanctioning arrangement with the DP World Tour from 2009 to 2012. After a two-year break, the event returned to the Asian Tour schedule in 2025 and was played at Sentosa Golf Club this April, where Korean Jeongwoo Ham became the second player from his country to win the title.

For 2027, the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open will feature as part of the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing, which forms the third of five Global Swings in the initial phase of the Race to Dubai.

Stakeholder Perspectives on the Partnership

Claudio de Sanctis, a Deutsche Bank Management Board Member and Head of Private Bank, expressed the bank’s pride in collaborating with the DP World Tour to bring international golf talent to Asia.

He noted that supporting this event aligns with Deutsche Bank’s commitment to fostering global talent and competitive skill, while also reinforcing its presence in Singapore and the wider Asian region. Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour, welcomed the elevation of the event and the increased prominence it gains through the partnership with Deutsche Bank.

Guy Kinnings, CEO of the DP World Tour, highlighted the commercial appeal of the tour and its capacity to provide opportunities for global brands through its platform. Lee Lung Nien, President of the Singapore Golf Association, stated the partnership creates new opportunities for local players to compete against leading international professionals.

Implications for Asian Golf and Players

The renewed partnership between the Asian Tour and DP World Tour, supported by Deutsche Bank, is set to raise the profile of the Singapore Open significantly. For Asian golfers, this collaboration means greater exposure to top-tier competition on home soil, offering a direct pathway to compete against leading international players and earn Race to Dubai points.

The inclusion of the Singapore Open in the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing will attract a stronger field, enhancing the spectator experience and potentially driving increased golf tourism to Singapore.

This development also reinforces the growing collaboration between major tours, creating a more integrated global golf calendar and providing clear pathways for talent development within Asia.
