Singapore's Women's Team Heads to Nagoya

The Singapore Golf Association has announced its women's golf team for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Shannon Tan, Chen Xingtong, and Amanda Tan will compete at the Kasugai Country Club East Course in Nagoya, Japan, with play commencing on 1 October.

This trio of accomplished golfers aims to represent their country and contend for honours on one of Asia's most significant sporting platforms. The competition offers a valuable opportunity for the team to perform together, building on their individual successes within Singaporean golf.

Shannon Tan Brings Olympic and Tour Experience

Shannon Tan, at 22 years old, enters the Asian Games with considerable international experience. She holds the distinction of being the first Singaporean golfer to participate in the Olympic Games, having competed at Paris 2024.

Following her Olympic appearance, Tan has continued to make her mark on the Ladies European Tour (LET), where she is a multiple winner and the reigning Order of Merit champion. Her participation in Nagoya marks a transition from individual tour success to a collective effort, as she focuses on contributing her experience to Singapore's team performance. Tan expressed her honour in representing Singapore and hopes to make her Asian Games debut a memorable one.

Chen Xingtong's Rapid Rise in Amateur Golf

Seventeen-year-old Chen Xingtong also joins the team, bringing a strong amateur record to the Asian Games. In 2025, she made history as the first Singaporean to reach the final of the prestigious US Girls' Junior Championship. This significant achievement followed her victory at the Singapore Open Amateur Championship in 2024.

Chen was also a member of the Singapore team that secured a silver medal at the 2025 SEA Games and contributed to the nation's best team result of tied-15th at the World Amateur Team Championships in 2025. She described her selection as a privilege and an honour to play for her country on this special occasion.
