SPORTS FOR WISHES Golf Tournament Benefits Make-A-Wish Indonesia
SPORTS FOR WISHES hosted its second annual golf fundraiser at Gunung Geulis Country Club's East Course in Bogor last Saturday, drawing over 100 golfers to support Make-A-Wish® Indonesia.

Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Bogor
SPORTS FOR WISHES successfully staged its second annual charity golf tournament last Saturday, 17 October 2026, on the East Course at Gunung Geulis Country Club in Bogor, Indonesia. The event, officially titled "Sports for Wishes: Charity Golf Tournament for Make-A-Wish® Indonesia," brought together more than 100 golfers.
Participants competed while simultaneously raising vital funds for Make-A-Wish® Indonesia, an organisation dedicated to granting the wishes of children facing critical illnesses. This year's gathering followed the positive reception of its inaugural tournament in 2025, continuing an initiative that harnesses the appeal of golf for philanthropic causes within the community.
The organisers expressed a strong desire to build on previous success and gather even greater support for the beneficiary.
Youthful Leadership Drives Fundraising Efforts
The SPORTS FOR WISHES initiative was co-founded by Lucas Winoto and Matthew Koestanto, both 11th-grade students at Jakarta Intercultural School. Their vision was to create a platform that leverages a love for sports to generate positive social impact through charitable activities. The 2025 tournament, their first endeavour, successfully collected Rp125 million in donations.
These funds were channelled to Make-A-Wish® Indonesia, directly assisting in the fulfilment of wishes for children with critical health conditions.
Matthew Koestanto highlighted the simple yet powerful idea behind their work, aiming to inspire broader participation and demonstrate that even small contributions can create significant change for children in challenging circumstances.
Junior Golfers Boost Participant Engagement
This year's tournament at Gunung Geulis Country Club saw the active participation of two promising Indonesian junior golfers, Dyllan Michio Satriobudi and Amira Ajda Khairunnisa Permadi. Both young athletes contributed to the fundraising efforts by offering a unique opportunity: participants could play a round of golf alongside them in exchange for a donation.
This special experience not only added value for the attendees but also provided a direct and engaging way for them to contribute to Make-A-Wish® Indonesia's mission while enjoying the sport with talented young players.
Miranti Hadisusilo, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Make-A-Wish® Indonesia, praised the initiative, noting how young people are transforming their passion for sports into tangible hope for children.
Future Expansion and Community Impact
The successful execution of the second annual golf tournament sets a precedent for how youth-led initiatives can effectively engage the golf community in charitable endeavours across Asia. Looking ahead, SPORTS FOR WISHES intends to broaden its scope beyond golf.
The organisation plans to extend its fundraising model to include other sports, such as tennis and padel, aiming to connect with a wider array of communities and encourage more individuals to support their noble cause.
For golf operators and enthusiasts in Asia, this model highlights the potential for local clubs to host impactful charity events, fostering community spirit and offering unique engagement opportunities that resonate with both participants and beneficiaries.
