Titleist Initiates 2027 Pro V1 and Pro V1x Tour Validation Process
Titleist has commenced the global validation phase for its new 2027 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls, with professionals testing the models at events including the Baycurrent Classic in Japan.

Global Validation Commences, Japan Testing Underway
Titleist has officially begun the global validation process for its upcoming 2027 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls, distributing the new models to professional players worldwide. This crucial phase ensures the performance of the latest generation of its flagship golf balls under competitive conditions before a broader consumer release.
This week, the validation efforts are notably underway at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan, where Titleist representatives are collaborating with players at Yokohama Country Club. Professionals are evaluating the new balls as they prepare for potential use in tournament play, marking a significant step in the product development cycle. The company's approach involves extensive tour testing to gather feedback from elite athletes.
Extensive Development and Early Trials
According to Titleist, the development of the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x models has been an ongoing effort for several years. The final stages of prototype testing intensified earlier this season, specifically during practice rounds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in March.
During this period, prominent players such as Adam Scott, Ryan Gerard, Jordan Spieth, and Harris English were among those evaluating the final candidate golf balls.
Over the subsequent months, Titleist continued its rigorous testing programme with a broad roster of professionals, including Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland, Lottie Woad, and Yana Wilson, ensuring comprehensive feedback across various playing styles and conditions.
Professionals Adopt New Models in Competition
Moving beyond the prototype stage, several professionals have already integrated the 2027 Pro V1 and Pro V1x into their competitive rounds. Neal Shipley was an early adopter of the new Pro V1 at the Biltmore Championship Asheville, where he carded a career-low 62 in the second round and ultimately secured a tied-third finish, his best on the PGA Tour to date.
Robert MacIntyre also made the switch to the new Pro V1 during a tournament in Scotland, achieving a tied-sixth position. On the Pro V1x side, Doug Ghim transitioned to the new model at the Bank of Utah Championship, having previously tested it at the Titleist Performance Institute. He recorded an impressive 22-under par over his initial 54 holes with the new ball.
Anticipating Performance Details and Asian Market Impact
While Titleist has confirmed these models represent the 15th generation of the Pro V1 and the 13th generation of the Pro V1x, specific details regarding performance enhancements remain undisclosed. This phase of tour validation is typical for Titleist, focusing on real-world tournament performance before a public launch.
No official retail availability date or pricing has been announced yet. As Titleist expands its validation process globally, professionals on Asian circuits, such as the Japan Golf Tour and the Asian Tour, are expected to commence testing the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x models in the coming weeks and months.
This crucial feedback from Asian-based players will inform the final product adjustments before any eventual retail introduction in key Asian markets, where demand for cutting-edge golf equipment consistently shapes purchasing patterns.
