Kevin Kisner, who served as a US assistant captain, has revealed details of a fiery confrontation with Camilo Villegas, an International assistant captain, during the 2024 Presidents Cup. The incident occurred at Royal Montreal Golf Club and stemmed from an animated exchange between players Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim.

During the opening day's four-ball session, Kim made a long birdie putt on the 7th hole and celebrated with considerable enthusiasm. Scheffler responded in kind after securing his own birdie putt. The tension escalated on the subsequent hole when Kim sank another long birdie putt.

Kim and his partner, Sungjae Im, then proceeded towards the next tee before Scheffler and Russell Henley had completed the hole. Villegas had instructed his players to move on, a decision that Kisner found objectionable and unsporting.

Kisner made it clear that he felt the International team's conduct was disrespectful to the competition. Villegas, according to Kisner, dismissed these concerns, telling him not to worry about the International side. Kisner countered, asserting his responsibility to his own team and warning that such tactics could be reciprocated.

The confrontation did not conclude on the course. Kisner reported that Villegas approached him again after the match, continuing the heated exchange. Kisner described standing directly in front of Villegas, challenging him physically by asking, "You gonna punch me?" This post-match interaction was reportedly visible to television audiences.

Despite the tensions, the United States team ultimately prevailed in the match, with Scheffler and Henley defeating Kim and Im 3&2. The US team swept all five matches on the opening day, establishing a 5-0 lead, and went on to win the 2024 Presidents Cup with a final score of 18.5-11.5.
