Cyprus Welcomes New Golf Destination

Limassol Greens, a substantial new golf and residential project in Cyprus, officially opened its comprehensive resort facilities in June 2026. Located near the city of Limassol, on a former citrus plantation adjacent to the Akrotiri Salt Lake, the development represents a €400 million investment by Lanitis Golf Public.

The project's 18-hole championship golf course, designed by renowned architect Cabell B. Robinson, began welcoming members in October 2025 and opened to the general public in December 2025.

This staged opening marks Limassol Greens' transition from a significant construction venture into an operational leisure and living destination, adding a major golf offering to Cyprus' Mediterranean appeal.

Cabell B. Robinson's Strategic Design

The centrepiece of Limassol Greens is its 18-hole championship course, stretching approximately 6,300 metres. Cabell B. Robinson's design integrates the natural characteristics of the site, blending parkland and links-inspired elements.

The layout draws visual cues from the sandy dunes of Lady's Mile, with specific holes, such as the fifth and sixth, playing through a natural wetland. The course features generous fairways and shaped greens, utilising Tahoma 31 Bermuda grass for tees, fairways, and rough, a first for any golf course in Cyprus.

Strategic bunkering and the prevailing wind patterns significantly influence play, with the opening five holes generally playing into the wind and the subsequent stretch offering more favourable conditions.

Integrated Lifestyle and Accessibility

Beyond golf, the Limassol Greens project spans approximately 1.4 million square metres, offering a complete lifestyle destination. It combines luxury residences with extensive landscaped green spaces, modern practice facilities, and diverse leisure and hospitality amenities.

The developer, Lanitis Golf Public, delivered the first residences in 2025, with further facilities continuing to be introduced. Situated in the Fasouri area, the location provides golfers with convenient access to Limassol city while maintaining a natural setting.

The resort also benefits from its proximity to Cyprus' two international airports, located about 35 minutes away, according to Limassol Greens.

Implications for Golf Travel and Development

The launch of Limassol Greens expands Cyprus' appeal as a golf tourism destination, offering a new championship course within a major city.

For Asian golf travellers considering Mediterranean options, this development presents another integrated resort choice, similar to the growing number of multi-faceted golf and lifestyle projects emerging across Southeast Asia, such as those in Vietnam or Thailand. These developments aim to attract both leisure golfers and those seeking residential opportunities.

Asian developers and investors might observe the model of phased openings and integrated amenities at Limassol Greens, particularly its strategy of blending urban proximity with a natural golf experience, as they continue to shape new golf destinations within their own markets.
