Shipley Leads Inaugural Biltmore Championship
American Neal Shipley holds a narrow one-stroke lead entering the final round of the PGA Tour's inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville. Shipley, a rookie on the tour, carded a six-under 65 in his third consecutive bogey-free round on Saturday, bringing his total to 21-under 192.
His round at The Cliffs at Walnut Grove in North Carolina included an eagle and a birdie on the two par-fives on the back nine. Fellow American Ben Kohles matched Shipley's 65, finishing the day with three birdies across his final four holes to remain in contention.
Contenders and Course Conditions
Kohles, who played alongside Shipley in the third round's final group, also eagled the par-five third hole in his pursuit of a first PGA Tour title. Behind the leading duo, Eric Cole posted a 64 and Ricky Castillo a 65, placing them tied for third at 17-under. Jacob Bridgeman, with a 64, and Max Greyserman, with a 66, were a shot further back at 16-under.
Due to anticipated late afternoon storms, tee times for Saturday's round were moved up, with players grouped in threesomes off both the first and tenth tees. The PGA Tour has indicated similar arrangements are planned for the final round on Sunday.
